Which domains does OneBit sell?

The NiRA .ng family: .ng, .com.ng, .org.ng, .net.ng and .i.ng. Restricted extensions such as .edu.ng, .gov.ng, .sch.ng, .name.ng and .mobi.ng are not sold here — we have a page for each explaining where to go instead.

Do you sell .com, .net or .io?

No. We used to and we stopped. Only the .ng family is offered for new registration and transfer-in.

Does GoDaddy or Namecheap sell .ng domains?

The .ng namespace is administered by NiRA, and .ng domains are sold through registrars accredited by NiRA. If you want to know whether a particular international registrar offers it, ask them or check NiRA’s published list of accredited registrars — we are not going to speak for another company’s catalogue.

Is there a free .ng domain?

No. A .ng registration has a registry fee behind it, so nobody gives one away for nothing. If you see a free .ng offered, look for what it is bundled with and what happens at renewal.

Do I need a Nigerian company or a CAC certificate?

Not for the extensions we sell. You need an account, a contactable email address and a payment. NiRA sets the rules for the namespace and can act on a registration that breaks them.

Do I have to buy hosting too?

No. A domain and hosting are separate products with separate prices, and either works without the other. You can point a domain registered here at any host in the world.

How do I pay?

By card or bank transfer in naira, through Paystack. You do not need a dollar card.

Is VAT included in the price I see?

No. Nigerian VAT of 7.5% is exclusive here — it is calculated on the price and added to your total at checkout. Every price on this site is shown with that note next to it.

What will my renewal cost?

Your renewal price is shown at checkout for the domain you are buying, and again on the domain when renewal comes round. We do not publish a separate renewal table, because the only renewal figure worth quoting is the one attached to your own order.

What happens if I let a domain expire?

It stops resolving, so the website and any email on it stop working. After that it enters the registry’s own lifecycle and what remains possible depends on how far through that lifecycle it has gone. We do not offer or price a restore service — if a domain of yours has expired, contact us and we will tell you what the registry says is still possible for that specific name.

Can I register for more than a year?

Yes, where the registry supports it. Multi-year terms appear at checkout.

Can I edit DNS records myself?

Yes. A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS and SRV records, edited directly on the domain, with no ticket and no waiting for anyone to apply a change for you.

How many nameservers can I set?

Between two and five. That is the registry’s rule.

How do I know a DNS change has taken effect?

Use the DNS check on the domain. It queries twenty public resolvers, including ipNX in Nigeria, and shows which have the new answer and which are still serving the old one, with a confidence rating so a partial check does not read like a complete one.

Can I move a domain here from another registrar?

Yes, within the .ng family. You need the EPP authorisation code from your current registrar and an account here. The transfer page walks through it.

Is there an app?

There is an iPhone app — Deploy by OneBit — which handles domains and hosting. There is no Android app. On Android, use the web panel, which works in a phone browser.

Can I look up who owns a domain?

No, and neither can anyone else. Registrant details have been redacted at the registry since June 2025 under the Nigeria Data Protection Act. Our check tool shows the two things that are genuinely public: whether a name can be registered, and which nameservers answer for it.
