.ng domain extensions

The .ng family has an open half and a restricted half. We register the open half. This page says which is which, so you know before you search rather than at checkout.

What we register

What we do not register

The rest of the family is restricted, or simply not something we sell. Each of these pages says plainly that we do not register it and points at NiRA, the registry for the whole .ng namespace, rather than leaving you to work it out at a checkout that would have failed.

Second level or third level?

A second-level name sits directly under the country code — yourname.ng. A third-level name sits under a category first — yourname.com.ng. Most .ng registrations historically went to the third level, so a name that is gone at .com.ng is often still free at .ng.

Technically they are the same thing. The same DNS records, the same nameserver rules, the same certificates, the same email. Choose on length, on what your customers will recognise, and on what is actually available.
