What .gov.ng is

This is the one extension in the family whose rules NiRA publishes plainly. Its .gov.ng guideline states that "All websites/portal of Gconstituents at all levels (Federal, State and Local Governments) or specialized projects of Government that would last for 18 months or more are required to register on .GOV.NG".

So for a government body it is not a choice of address — the guideline makes it a requirement.

How to get a .gov.ng

  • Apply in writing to the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), which is one of the two routes NiRA names.
  • Or apply through NiRA via an accredited registrar — the second route, from the same guideline.
  • NiRA publishes the guideline and the accredited registrar list; both are linked below.
